MAZDA F-block bolts to G-Series Trans!
I just read about an interesting fact on mx6.com. Freddio can probably help me figure this out. A member on mx6.com BOLTED a G6 mazda b2600i RWD 5 speed transmission to a KIA FE3 engine! BOLTED! He said it works! This is the first time I have ever heard of this- he has pictures to prove it! He used the G6 B2600i flywheel- since it's the odd 8-bolt style like a KIA, and used the B2600i clutch- and walla- a bullet-proof Type III 5 speed transmission!
For those that don't know- the B2600i, RX-7 Turbo II FC, 929, and MPV(?) all use the Type III Mazda 5 speed trans- it's the strongest 5 speed available for our cars and trucks in the Mazda land.
Since it is apparently possible to bolt a B2600i 5 speed to an FE3, then it can be bolts to any B2200, B2000 engine or any F2T, any F-Block!
I want to verfiy that this is correct. Right now I am feening for a B2600i 5 speed to bolt to one of my spare F-block engines. But I don't have a trans and it is cold outside and I can't go to the junkyard right now. BUT! If someone has a B2600i 5 speed and an F-block laying around..... PLEASE grab some bolts and see if you can do it!!!!!!

Wow, that will be awesome if it's true, would open up a bunch of options.
I seem to remember a certain member in florida who recently acquired a B2600 and has a few other trucks lying around....

i know for a fact this is not possible, with the G6 bellhousing that is.
if you get an overseas f series bellhousing for the type III (R) trans which came in the 94+ b2200 with the 12v f2 truck engine. this is what fred is running in his truck
i have pics of the b2600i bellhousing in my diesel build thread, or in my photobucket account if you choose to browse them.

Careful guys, there were two different G6 setups in the trucks, mitsi and mazda. The one these guys are claiming to work is the mazda variant, not the mitsi variant. There is a mitsi turbo truck site around that has pics of all the bells on it.
I have dealt with these two guys quite a bit and Jesse is pretty switched on, I trust what he says.
The mazda G engines look remarkably like the F engines in many ways too, so it doesn't really surprise me much. The MPV comes with a G5 out of Japan. I'm unsure about the US of A.

So, what years domestically had the Mazda variant and which ones had the mitsu variant? This is definately worth my time to look in the yards if I knew what years to look up

the efi engine in the mazda b2600i is a mitsu engine, i have never seen or heard of a different mazda 2.6L engine. the carbed and efi versions of the 2.6L are also built with a timing chain and an external water pump, both completely opposite of the mazda built fe and f2 engines.
if there ever was a 2.6L mazda engine i would love to see a picture of it. there are 2.2L trucks that used 4x4 transmissions with the bigger and smaller trans styles.
i kinda doubt that there is a mazda g6/g5 engine while there is also a mitsu g6/g5 engine? mpv's over here came with the option of the 3.0L v6 or the 2.6L 12v 4cyl (i've seen this engine and it is the g6, exactly the same as what was in my b2600i 4x4)

I think I'm right in saying that the g5 is the mitsu motor that came out in 87-88 in mazda 2600. This motor was made in canada and was also used in a few other things like conquest, caravans, mitsu trucks and lancers. In efi, carbed and turbos.
The g6 is the mazda motor that came out 89-93. Im not sure about the g6. But the g5 the intake and exhaust are on opposite from the other b's.

YES- 87-88 B2600- is a carb 2.6 MAZDA engine(no "i")- not the same as the 89-93 B2600i fuel injected mitsubishi engine, with an i.
Fred- in the picture on mx6.com, the fellow has a 98' courier with a 2.6 liter injected 12 valve engine- which has to be a b2600i over here. This is what he bolts an FE3 to!

Here is the link
RWD bell housing differences, slant/straight (new project pics too) - Mazda MX6 Forums: MX6 Forum
Correct me if I'm wrong- but this clearly shows an injected 12 valve 2.6 liter engine that gets removed, and an FE3 bolts right in!

Ok I read the thread and I think that I saw something that everyone missed. Remember when he posted that there were bolt holes at the top that would fit the Type II trans? I believe that there were different holes to fit the KIA automatic transmission (the lower ones) and the 5speed (upper ones.)
Here is a picture for a reference.

I do not recall seeing 2 different sets of upper bolt holes on the back of my old FE block. Anyone with pics of the back of the block feel free to take em. But this would be friggin sweet if I'm forgetting something.

It wasnt an FE but the FS 2.0 I had a while back had two sets of upper holes, and my B2200 auto tranny mounted to the lower holes on it.

Ok then. And maybe I have a pic or two from the back of a bare block, but does anyone have any pics of the back of their block that they are willing to show? I sent a PM to axle for some pics but am hoping for some more as well, depending on what he may or may not have.

Ok, you want a pic of the F2 (B2200) Block? (I just realized this was the F2 (2200) Motor! So I edited the post to show that!)
If that is what ya'll want, here it is. It does have a set of lower top holes and they look to be a smaller diameter bolt than the large ones used in the B2000/5 speed setup.
