The 929 is in fact front wheel drive.

Got confused with the 626. I doubt the 929 came with a standard transmission though, atleast not in the States.

The B2600i, MPV, RX-7 TII, and 929 all came with atleast a rear wheel drive manual transmission option that use the Type III transmission.

There are some rear wheel drive 626s but they are pretty rare, they also made a 4 wheel steering 626 that I think was only sold in canada.

yes the rwd 626 was a late 70's early 80's thing. and yes 929's were rwd cars, they did come with all sorts of motors and transmissions in them too.

wonder what model of 929 had a tranny similar to the b n i wonder if it would bolt up to the 2.2 or FE3?? might be a easier conversion than the TII especially if the tailshaft swaps.. im sure it be rediculously hard to find..

it will be hard to find a standard in a 929, as it would have to be some special sport model. you should be able to use a b2600i 2wd trans for your swap, just need to use a f2t flywheel, clutch, and starter.

Just asking because I dont know, why do you have to use the starter from the F2T?

Is it a different diameter flywheel?

Brian, starters are the same, only the ring gear diameter differs, mounting and ring gear tooth pitch all match up fine.
