Nothing wrong with shelling out a few extra pennies to get it done right the first time Should be cool, are you going to send K6 the intake for powder coating?

K6 and I should be getting together soon to do that. I don't want to send my parts in the mail or via USPS. they were to hard to come by, lol. I hope he's done welding his exhaust.

I was waiting to post until I got the time to start putting things back together LOL
I got the engine and all my parts back last thursday. I will start with some of the assembly this week. I should have it all together by friday and in my truck in two weeks or so. I may hold off until begining of spring to frop the block in there. I've been working on my bike lately and it's been really cold outside as well. But most of all very windy. I don't mind the cold too much, but the wind kills my mood to work outside. I have the block and parts at my job's warehouse facility. That's where I will be assembling the motor. My current engine has seen better days and I'm sure it won't be long before it gives up on me. If it was anyone else it would last, but I put that motor under submision on a daily basis.
I'll keep you all posted as soon as I get this thing going.

You need to bring all that stuff down here X! My big garage needs broken in! Speaking of the garage....I temporarily hooked up one of the 10 mercury vapor light fixtures that my buddy got for me from a Publix store that they remodeled.....I will be able to perform surgery in that garage when I get them all hooked up!! It will be brighter than day in there!

That sounds like a lot of fun. I really whish I could go. I like having bright lights around when assembling engines.
But it's too far for me right now.
I have a lab to work on andall the tools at my job's warehouse. I think that will be enough.
Anyone is welcome to come...
K6 is coming over to help me put things back together.
The valve cover will be a metallic lolipop blue (2 stage )
The intake and front housing, depending on how things go, will be powdercoat chrome Same as the thermostat housing.
Which reminds me that I stillneed to weld some inner fenders in the engine bay to reduce splashing and keeping the bay cleaner, specially when it rains.

Nice project X. Where exactly is Franklinton? I wouldn't mind checking this thing out myself. Maybe you will have it done before the next local meet. I'm hoping I will get to come to the next one.

According to google maps I'm about 4 hours east of you. But I work in Durham, which is closer.
I do hope to get it running early spring.
I plan on going to Charlotte this spring for our next MAZDATRUCKIN meet though. We just have to set up a date, and hope it works out.

Powder Coating done. Assembly next.
Well guys,
Thanks to K6's visit this past weekend, I got my valve cover, intake manifold, front housing, thermostat housing, weber aircleaner upper lid, chevy chrome 100 amp alternator fan, water pump pipe, all powder coated.
K6 and I got to do some twiking on the inatke manifold, for better response and reduce gas puddling.
We smoothed out the cylinder's head sharp edges, the pistons valve recesess were also smoothed out to reduce hot spots.
Here are some photos of the process and outcome.
K6 showed up with his portable oven, which resembled a retro look alike of R2-D2.
"R2....I am your father"
We first tried out on a non important piece to see if I liked the results.
It turned out great and later on we made it blue.
We smoothed out the valve cover prior to powder coating to have a better finish.
And it came out looking great too.
The front housing and thermostat housing were next.
Ken, working on my intake manifold.
The end result.
And after coating it.
Then K6 got creative and we did this to the alternator's fan.
We were there till 11:30 PM on saturday. Prepping the parts and getting set up took a long time. I was extremly tired, since I'm not used to being up that late.
The he got a bit too creative and decided to powder coat his arm. Good thing I was there to stop him. I think he was overworked. LOL
The rest are some mock up pics of how it all turned out.
you can even see the reflection of the warehouse lamp above, on the valve cover.
I will start the assembly tomorrow, and have it in my truck ASAP.
Over all. I'm a happy camper.
Thanks so Much K6

Great work guys, I really like the colors you picked. the blue contrasts nicely against the silver.
K6 how much would you charge to do my valve cover, I would like you to put the silver/chrome on first. Then leave the lines on the top silver and put a transparent tangerine orange on it to give it a candy effect. AKA candy tangerine orange.
I would have to ship mine to you. I live too far away to drive, (Hackett Arkansas, 72937)
