Just a quick hijack: what year RX7 trannies have the good overdrive ratio? I found 2 RX7s with the trannies in them still, for 55 bucks a piece (pullapart universal pricing system.) one's an 88 and the other is an 86.

i dunno about your b2000/b2200 trans, but my original one, and the one i scored for the turbo project both have arse gear ratios, any rx7 or miata/mx5 or 929 box, basically any car box has better ratios. for example, what i currently have is a box that when i shift from 7500, i get 4500rpm in all gears except 5th which i get 6500 in and almost may aswell not bother to shift to :-)
unless you wanna haul stuff around, any car box will be nicer to drive on.
cant wait to get a set of rotor gears for mine!
the pictures i wanted to put in my gearbox thread on mx6.com. i already put them up :-) but now i dont have to take them down again :-)
i also put someone elses pics up from the really early type ute with the MA engine. his had a 5 speed R type box in it!! interesting info indeed.

MJ those should both be great tranny's, i'm assuming they are both NA cars and not turboll's(i'm going off solomiata's numbers by the way) http://members.aol.com/solomiata/Drivetrain.html scroll down to the near the bottom and check the M ratios for the smaller trannies that match whats in the trucks.
fred, do you have a whole thread on there about mazda gearbox's on there?

one of them for sure is the NA engine, but i'm not sure about the other one. the intake and exhaust on the 88 was missing...

yah i turned aound and sold it for what i bought it for. a learning experience. and now i'm glad i did as i don't have a shop to do all the custom work at anymore. plus it was just gonna cost to much to get all the proper acsesories for the rotary, plus tuning it being i've never owned a turbo'd vehicle, let alone a rotary with 2 of them. they are all over ebay for the same price i payed, but i think next time i'm ready to try something like that i'll just go for a turboll model insted

With regards to the intake manifold issue, any chance a B2200 EFI intake would fit on there? I know the exhaust manifolds are (fairly?) interchangeable, what about the intake?
..may save you some work, of course then the plumbing for the intercooler would be a bit more interesting (turbo outlet and intake inlet both on same side of engine bay...)
...I've been considering a ghetto turbo for a while now (just a F2T / FET manifold and low boost turbo with some sort of ghetto rising rate FPR...)... but I think it'll have to wait until I have more money... plus I do have a 13B just sitting around waiting for a home (N/A unfortunately).

The intake manifolds on the F2 12-valve cars do not bolt on to the 8-valve head, otherwise everyone would have one.

yah, being that the intake ports on the 12v head are much wider because of them running into 2 valves each makes them totally different (i have both, the truck is already efi, and i have the 12v setup sitting in my garage) . but its not that big of an issue to flip the top half of the intake and move the battery.
small update... i've decided to drop the power steering and just go with a manual box to keep the belts simple on the front and allow more room for the turbo and down pipe, plus i'll only be using one belt on the front of the engine for the alt. which will keep it nice and cleen. and then i can shave the outer piece off the pulley to mount the ford edis ring on it for the MS2. Hey fred, how did you get yours mounted on your front pulley?

PM Fred if you need him. You gotta remeber he is in England now and he is 8 hours ahead of me. It is almost 2100 here and it is going on 0500 for him. I just had a thought, Dealwithit you have a small steering wheel and power steering with wide tires. If you back to manual will it be that much harder to steer? You know in Saginaw boxes you can put PS worm and sectors in manual boxes to speed up the steering ratio. But you gotta be a real tough guy to drive em. They did this in a lot old circle track cars.

yah, if i was gonna do that i'd just leave the power box in there which i probably will for now but we'll see, i'd love to keep the power steering but its looking to be pretty complitcated right now

I'm so sorry guys :-(
I've been typically busy with xmas etc...
and i've started a VERY cool project thats been soaking all my time. i'm working really hard on that right now to get it released in its early stages for public consumption. i'll link it on this site for you to check out when its ready.
as for the pulley, i used a lathe, precision machining (roughly) and a shrink fit.
i have a bunch of photos, let me find them :
http://www.mx6.com/forums/1748708-post34.html
http://s50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...4/100_3846.jpg
basically i had a sierra pulley from england (inlaw brought it to nz for me) and machined the inside of the stocker to a certain size, and the outside of the siera pulley to the same size + some, i forget what interference i used, but it was marginal (too tight) and i only just got it to work. on the brighter side, its NEVER coming out :-)
the sierra pulley started off big and three piece, steel, rubber, steel. i machined one side down so i could use a press to push that out of the other bit. then i machined it down and down in various ways so i could hold it nicely for the final cut. it ended up not quite right, ie, a we bit of runout. its visible on the scope pic as a change in amplitude :
http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...4/100_3924.jpg
the missing one is good! ;-) and it turns out that the height of each one is not important as its the zero crossing that the detector looks for anyway.
hope that helps, even if its a bit late.
sorry about that.
like justcuz said though, pm me. i set it up to email me about it since the first time i didnt respond to someone for about a week after not seeing it.
if k6 is reading this, i reckon default should be to either popup or email about pms, not both, and not neither, but its entirely up to him at the end of the day :-) easy enough to turn it off if it bugs you, but not so easy to realise you have mail if its not on.
catch you all later,
fred.

I made a pulley to mount my 36-1 tooth ring to my kia fe3 crank pulley- what you need to do is first chuck that f2t pulley up in a lathe and make a nice place for a ring to be pressed into the front of it- you'll need to true it up. Then machine a peice of aluminum to fit inside of the ring you made in the f2t pulley. Then machine the outside of the peice of aluminum to hold the 36-1 tooth ring- and press them all togehter- This is how mine was done, I had a machine shop do this for me for 40 bucks-
You know the real solution to a f2t swap? Bongo cylinder head! You will see- all my parts are ready- once I assemble it- I'll post some pictures- until then-
