From what I've seen/learned with my 2.6i you might not want to shave the head much at all. If you can see how close the exhaust valves get to the pistons when stock then you would know it wouldn't be advisable. Now a set of custom pistons with valve reliefs might do the trick or welding in the combustion chamber on the heads to reduce the cc's. Also after driving a 2.2 for years and then jumping into this 2.6i WITH BALANCE SHAFTS, I feel like I'm in heaven when that motor is turning some rpm's

......and it act's like it LIKES rpm's unlike the 2.2 motors! I would leave the balance shaft's in there if it were mine, and look for power else where.
