I did the LX cluster swap on my 93 b2200 and wanted to bring back the odometer to 0 miles. Like a dumbass, I didn't move the speedo cable over to the left when re-installing the cluster. Needless to say, I broke the cable. Only one good thing came out of this (I hope). The square shaft that inserts into the cluster(that spins the odometer) is the part that broke off. Can I put that broken shaft in a drill an spin back, or forward, my mileage? Or do I risk messing up the odometer?

Anybody know if a 94+ bumper (front or rear) will fit on the 86-93's? My truck has some major rust in the bumpers.. so wierd, the rest of the truck is pretty good (except the inside of box... again wierd as its not all beat up, just rust here and there in edges and corners on insdie of box, neot even where you would expect wter to sit, nice paint everywhere). Local Wrecking yards do not have any 86-93's, so was thinking of going in and trying some 93+ (ranger in those years is basicly same truck, correct?).

How about 93+ seats.. I really wanna get ride of my bench.

I am blown away by the bumpers.. major rust in back (can see that as its sorta a scoop to catch crap that flies up) but the front too.. I see Ebay has um for about $100 shipped, maybe have to bite the bullet.

I live in a state that has no emissions testing. I also have gone through so many Bseries and cant stand the emissions tubing removal just to do a timing belt. Plus the clutter, and catalytic converter clogging. I have made flanges to delete the catalytic converter and you will have to run new exhaust from the front. You can delete the pollution tubes at that point. If interested send me a message or call me at 423.504.8611. Hoping to find my dig cam soon to post the pics.

I'm torn between the Kicker 12" L5 and the Alpine Type R 12"
I have a Kicker ZX500.1 amp right now pushing a MA Audio 1000XL at 2ohm, but i want to upgrade to a 12 in a ported box, tuned maybe 33hz or so..
I was thinking about a SoundSplinter (TC Sounds) Epic, but they're made for sealed enclosures which means no tuning and I won't be able to do the cool "wrag in the port" trick like people do on YouTube lol. I have also thought about getting two Memphis M-class 12's, or two JL W1's but two subs means a dual box and that will be a little out of my price range.. I have found some good deals on the Kicker and Alpine products though and so I think I have it narrowed down to the two, but it's anout time to make the call and I'm stuck.. So tell me what you think: Kicker L5, Alpine Type R, or other? and if you say "other" then please elaborate.

thanks!!

There are a lot of allusions to swapping a Ford 3.0 Vulcan (Taurus/Aerostar) V6 engine into a Mazda truck — but precious little detail. I've found...

There are a lot of allusions to swapping a Ford 3.0 Vulcan (Taurus/Aerostar) V6 engine into a Mazda truck — but precious little detail. I've found several threads on this and other forums that say yeah, it's possible, it fits, it's great and then . . . nothing.

The appeal to me is obvious: My '93 B2600i's motor is shot, and my daughter's old car, a '95 Taurus, has the very typical blown transmission those cars are infamous for. I could get the 2.6L rebuilt and back in for about a grand if I did most of the work myself, and I'd regain the 120hp and (if I'm lucky) 23 mpg. ORRRRR, I could somehow slip the 3.0 Vulcan in there and have 140hp and 30 mpg — maybe even better since it wouldn't be hauling around a 3600 pound Taurus.

Plus it would be basically free, since the Taurus has been sitting unused on the back 40 for a couple of years.

What I have found out with the limited info I can find is that I would need an 85-87 Aerostar manual tranny bellhousing, which would supposedly bolt right up to the Mazda 5-speed. I might also need an aerostar pan for the Taurus engine to mount properly in the truck. Obviously, I would need all the wiring and ECM from the Taurus.

But what else? What kind of engine mounts? What about the intake, which would face 'backwards' in a fore-and-aft mounting? What about all the other details? Is there ANYWHERE any of this is actually written down from start to finish?

BTW, if I decide to go ahead, I will certainly document the process every step of the way. I just don't want to tear both vehicles apart and find out it won't work.

Thanks much in advance for any help or advice you could offer.

Another BTW: I'm not a horsepower freak. I don't need more power so I'll never do any sort of engine upgrades. I'm happy with the way the Vulcan runs now, and much more interested in getting good MPG than horsepower.

i contacted a shop about dearching my leaf springs because i'd feel safer knowing i still have all 4 springs rather than running a single+overload setup. the guy told me about $90 a side (so ~$180 total). that's with me dropping my whole truck off to him. is that about normal? i've never heard prices on this sort of thing so i'd hate to get totally milked.
