I think that the AC compressor just sat on the oil pump to be honest. Those 2 long bolts that I pulled off the oil pump and used for the homemade alt bracket? I believe that's where the compressor went. It's been too long since I've had my hand on it.

Well, since I am on light duty at work and at home, I decided to do some light duty work on the diesel conversion today. Remember how I had that broken return line?

Well, I figured that it was not an absolute necessity to have all 4 return lines connected at the injectors, I mean, they all are just going to go back to the tank, right?

So, I cut them into 4 individual pieces, cut off the spare lines that were on 3 of the pieces, welded the extra holes shut, and problem solved I tried to weld flares on the end of 3 of them (one already had one) but I found that the metal was too small, even on low setting I burned through. I'm going to try to find a flare tool that will work on bent pipes, or just use the extra length and clamp the hoses down using 2 clamps per (assuming I can find a clamp small enough, lol)

It's coming along slowly, but it's coming along.

oh, and this should be a given, I'm going to tee the lines together using hose and fittings suitable for diesel fuel to the one master return line.

A brake line flaring tool might almost work...I am not sure what the difference in sizes is, but I am sure its gotta be close

yah, that will work perfectly fine man, theres only like 3-4 psi of pressure in those lines too, mostly just for cooling the injectors and injection pump.

Well I got the confirmation that the transmission has reached the Jackson terminal, hopefully it is truly next day and I'll have the trans by tonight or Monday.
EDIT: It's in Marietta Going to go pick it up tonight after work. We'll see what set of gears are inside it as well

Well, I got the transmission tonight. It was a fun trip in the rain. Pretty light weight, especially since the trans came from a VAN. Anyways, I got it home and I noticed several similarities to the B2000 tranny. The model # of the stock B2000/B2200 is M519, I acquired tonight a M520 (funny, my birthday is 5/20, lol)
Unfortunately, I will not be able to use this gear box. The trans feels to be in better shape than mine, but mine will work for the time being until I do an RX or Miata swap. MAN I FORGOT WHAT A PAIN IT CAN BE TO TAKE THE GEAR BOX OFF THE BELL HOUSING!!!!! TIMES 2!!!!!!!!!

Pics? here they are

Bongo trans, left. B2000 trans, right.

M520

Tail housing removed from M519. Note the plastic speedo gear.

Tail housing removed from M520. This one was a pain because of the side shifters but I eventually got the necessary component off. Also, notice the METAL speedo gear on the output shaft. Same specs, just different material. I'm going to swap this over.

The tail housings. One is going to the recycling center for scrap weight, the other is going to be used

The two gearboxes. M519 top, M520 bottom. Notice how the Bongo setup is shorter slightly on the input side and much shorter on the output side. Also the difference in location of the speedo gear prevents me from using the M520 gears.

Anyone need a spare B2000 bell housing for making a Miata swap easier?

Also included in this transaction were the original Bongo flywheel, pressure plate and clutch. The latter two were for comparison reasons, looked almost exactly like the ones from the Escort. The flywheel I was waiting to see what it was like to determine if I am going to use the Kia one or the Bongo one. The Bongo one weighs about 30 lbs MORE so, eh, screw that. Also, 6 springs on the clutch (B2000) versus 4 (RF)

Also included, the crank pulley. Man this thing is HEAVY!!!!! IT's also a two piece. The pulley itself is pretty hollow, and there is an inner sleeve that the 6 inner bolts hold in place. Everything that I have heard is that the crank pulley for this engine is non-harmonic. I was confused, but then I saw the light crank pulley on the escort (less than 7 lbs) and the one for the Bongo (Probably about 25 lbs all together) I am contemplating using just the part with the V belts as it can be secured to the sprocket, and still weighs more alone than the one that came with the Escort. I am going to ask first though what is the point of that center piece. Pics of these to come later.

OK. There are indeed different gear ratios for the different gear boxes. I'm starting to wonder if the counter shaft will transfer over without needing to take apart the main shaft. Probably not. It might be a possible swap for someone though if they really are interested (and it fits, lol)

I sadly forgot how to calculate the gear ratios (pathetic, I know)

Divide one by the other.
The M519 has a tooth count of 13 and 28 for a ratio of 2.15384
The M520 has a tooth count of 12 and 29 for a ratio of 2.41666

I really don't know. I tried doing the math for both transmissions, there is obviously something that I am missing in the steps for doing such. You won't be able to use the bongo trans though, as the output shaft is shorter than the B series output shaft. It might, key word, MIGHT, be possible to swap the individual gears from the shaft that I have onto the output shaft of the stock B series trans. It also might be possible to swap the entire counter shaft. I have not tried this as of yet and have no intention of scraping my only gear box that I know that I can use. If you were interested in tinkering and have a spare trans that you can spare, in addition to time/ability of dismantling 2 trannies, then we can make arrangements for the gear box
