Default 2002 B3000 P0305 OBD code

Hello all! Tech section calls out bad injector for the P0305 code. New plugs and wires and resistance at coil pack ok. Anything else possible for this code? Thanks and nice to find this site!

P0305 just mearly indicates that there is a misfire in the #3 cylinder, does not point out what is causing it. All else fails it could just be that dirty in that one cylinder.

P0305 indicates that the injector is open or shorted, the symptoms would be a misfire or rough idle if it is open, if it is shorted the vehicle may not start because it may blow a fuse or the injector may hang open and dump fuel into the cylinder.

If the vehicle is running use a long screwdriver or stethoscope to listen to all of the injectors while the engine is running. One of them will likely sound different, if so that is likely the problem. If they all sound ok try listening and snap the throttle for each one, the internal windings may be weak in which case it may only create the condition to throw the code under acceleration.

If you have an ohm meter pull the connectors off the injectors, make sure the connector is clean. If so check the impedance (resistance) of the injector. I am currently at work and can't look up the value to post it.

Also look at your plugs, if one cylinder looks really lean or really rich that could be an indicator of which injector may be causing problems.
